Agitation against migrants
Trump announces “biggest deportation operation”
Former US President Donald Trump announced "the biggest deportation operation in the history of our country" on Tuesday (local time). The USA is facing an "invasion" of criminals from other countries who are coming from prisons and "insane asylums" (see video above).
They would then attack and even kill innocent people. "They're not people, they're animals." He accused his rival Joe Biden of causing a "bloodbath" with his border policy. "(...) Joe Biden has brought the carnage, the chaos and the killing from around the world to us and dumped it right in our backyards."
The presidential candidate continued: "We will stop the looting, the rape, the slaughter and the destruction of our American suburbs, cities and communities." If re-elected, he said he would seal off the border on his very first day in office. If he is not re-elected, the country would "cease to exist."
Hateful language again and again
Trump has been inciting hatred against migrants and minorities for years. He uses radical rhetoric, hateful and dehumanizing language. He recently used the term "bloodbath" in connection with the sale of Chinese cars on the US market. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released in late February, 38 percent of Republican voters see immigration as the most important issue.
However, experts say that people who enter the US illegally do not commit more violent crimes than native-born US citizens. "Donald Trump is using extreme rhetoric that promotes division, hatred and violence in our country," Biden's campaign communications director Michael Tyler said on Tuesday
