With the "Animal of the Month" initiative, the "Krone" animal corner, together with Nestlé Purina, has set itself the task of giving poor four-legged friends in Austrian animal shelters a better chance of finding a forever home. In April, we introduce you to Lupus, a male shepherd dog. Whoever adopts this docile four-legged friend will benefit twice over!

What do celebrities like Bob Dylan, Reese Witherspoon, Burt Reynolds, Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias have in common? They are all sheepdog fans. And rightly so! Because he is one of the most intelligent dog breeds and is therefore also used in many areas, such as the police or rescue services.

Lupus, Ihr souveräner Freund mit der kalten Schnauze

Lupus the shepherd combines all the typical characteristics of his breed: he has a good protective and guarding instinct, learns quickly and wants to be challenged accordingly. "He prefers a combination of physical and mental exercise. He loves all kinds of treat-seeking games with us, sprints happily through the agility course and enjoys long walks," describes his carer at TierQuarTier Vienna.

The previous owner neglected the six-year-old shepherd. At the shelter, Lupus was encouraged in line with his character and has developed into a special model dog - he masters the basic commands, wears a muzzle without any problems, travels on public transport or in the car, copes well with environmental stimuli and ignores cars, bicycles etc. He also shows relaxed behavior when meeting dogs.

His new family should give him time to settle in. Once the ice has been broken, Lupus will go through fire for his humans. He is a friendly and trustworthy dog with people he trusts.

Lupus' new home should be in a quiet environment. He would like to be kept as an individual within his own four walls - he is not compatible with cats.

"Krone" animal corner manager Maggie Entenfellner: "We hope that Lupus will be allowed to live with a shepherd friend and get the chance to continue to develop positively. Anyone who adopts the clever friend with the cold snout will receive a loyal companion as well as a three-month supply of food from Purina."
