3 dead after accident
“Let’s let the families grieve”
Three people lost their lives in a serious traffic accident in Pöllau recently. Many people are now wondering what caused the accident. However, this is not being investigated. Christian Kroschl, spokesman for the public prosecutor's office in Graz, explains why this is the case.
With the death of loved ones, you lose many things, but not the time you spent together": on Wednesday afternoon, the family, many friends and comrades of the Pöllau fire brigade bid farewell with heavy hearts to the couple (51, 59) who lost their lives in the devastating accident in Pöllau on March 24. A 17-year-old from Birkfeld was in the oncoming car. He also had no chance of survival after the collision, which local residents described as a violent bang. The young man, who was incredibly popular in his home town, was recently given a send-off.
What many people cannot understand is why the Graz public prosecutor's office is not investigating the cause of the accident any further. Apparently they need someone to blame. But: "From a criminal law perspective, we have no option," explains the spokesperson for the public prosecutor's office, Christian Kroschl. "The suspects who could be responsible for the accident are all dead. In terms of the law, there is nothing to investigate. Unless there was third party involvement. But there are no indications of this."

Birkfeld's mayor Oliver Felber is still deeply affected by the death of the 17-year-old himself. "The shock in the town is great," explains Felber in an interview with the "Steirerkrone" and he asks: "Let's give the families space to grieve."
