66-year-old man charged
Attempted murder trial after knife attack on wife
An argument with his father-in-law is said to have been the motive, resulting in a knife attack on his wife. A 66-year-old man has to answer for this at the Wels Regional Court on Thursday. The prosecution accuses him of attempted murder, the presumption of innocence applies.
Because he allegedly tried to kill his wife with a knife in Laakirchen in the district of Gmunden at the end of October, a 66-year-old man will have to answer to a jury in Wels on Thursday for attempted murder. He confessed during his interrogation.
Dispute with father-in-law
The crime was preceded by a dispute between the man and his father-in-law. His wife is said to have asked him to settle the conflict, otherwise he could move out of the shared apartment.
In response, the 66-year-old first threatened suicide and then injured his wife with a kitchen knife, according to the accusation. However, she managed to call her brother, who then alerted the emergency services.
If you or someone close to you is in an exceptional psychological situation or is experiencing suicidal thoughts, please contact the telephone helpline on 142.
