"Constant noise"
Motorcade: young tuners deprive the Viennese of sleep
Squealing tires, loud music, howling engines and speeding cars: This is what residents of Vienna-Döbling are currently having to contend with again. After the district was able to successfully reduce the tuner meetings on Kahlenberg, the young car fans are now causing sleepless nights on Heiligenstädter Straße. District leader Daniel Resch (ÖVP) is already looking for a solution with the police. "I will not let up!"
"This problem has existed since Corona", a local resident from Döbling told the "Krone" newspaper. The situation came to a head on the night from Easter Sunday to Monday. "There was unbearable noise from 11 pm to 4 am. Sleeping is hardly possible here," says the 42-year-old from Döbling. Women were also being honked at in the street.
District and police are looking for a solution
The police and district chief Resch have already been informed about the problem. There will be a meeting on Thursday to discuss further measures. "We want to find concrete actions against motorcades", says the ÖVP politician. The aim is to clarify what steps the City of Vienna could take and how the police will take action against the tuners in future.

Kahlenberg was also a tuner hotspot
"We won't let up," Resch asserts in an interview with the Krone. After all, the district has been struggling with such gatherings and angry residents since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. In the hunt for traffic offenders, the Vienna police have already broken up tuner meetings on Kahlenberg in the past. Concrete walls were also built there as obstacles. The measure was effective and the situation on the hill has improved.
The location is the focus of priority operations and patrols. As a result, there are almost daily focal points, even during the week.

Focus on priority actions
"However, we can't put up concrete walls on Heiligenstädter Straße - nor can we close the road," says Resch. Next up is the Döbling municipal police command. The officers are also aware of the complaint situation. "The location is the focus of priority actions and patrols. Accordingly, there are almost daily focal points, even during the week," the Vienna Police Department announced to the "Krone" on Thursday.
The problem with these encounters: "Driving in accordance with the road regulations does not constitute an administrative offense. Of course, attempts are made to enter into a constructive discourse with those involved that excessive driving, without an administrative offense, could contradict social aspects of residents," explains the police. If administrative violations are detected, they are reported.
It was one of the first warm days. It will escalate further in summer.

Residents must now wait and see
The disgruntled residents will have to wait and see. As the disgruntled Krone reader from Döbling (42) suspects: "It was one of the first warm days. It will escalate further in summer."
