Donaufeld's Holzer
Spaghetti is a must on match day for Goalgetter
Marcel Holzer is Donaufeld's top scorer and recently scored twice against FavAC. On Friday (19:30), coach Josef Michorl's team will face Oberwart. While TWL Elektra coach Herbert Gager is back after a break due to illness.
"I've been really well received and have felt right at home here since day one," said a delighted striker Marcel Holzer. He has been lacing up his boots for Donaufeld since the summer, scored twice for the first time in the last 5:0 win against FavAC and is the team's top scorer with seven goals. On Friday, the runners-up in the Eastern League will face Oberwart if the 25-year-old is to score for the third game in a row.
But that's not all: "We all want to become champions, everyone is really keen to win the title. You can feel that in the whole team. We are the hunters and want to ensure a hot title race right to the end." Holzer has been working at MA 48 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. since July. "I cover up to 25,000 steps a day. The work can be perfectly combined with soccer, but it was very hard for me at first." Holzer made a total of 14 appearances in the Bundesliga for WAC and Hartberg, but failed to make a breakthrough. "At a young age, the wrong thoughts sometimes come to the fore and sport no longer comes first. I've matured a lot in this respect." But Marcel remains true to one thing to this day. "We always have spaghetti bolognese on match days, it's a must."
While Herbert Gager returns to the bench for Friday's home game against Krems (19:30). The 54-year-old had to take a break due to illness and underwent a successful operation.
