"Would have fun with it"
Michael J. Fox is ready for a Hollywood comeback
In November 2020, he announced the end of his acting career due to the increasingly severe symptoms of his Parkinson's disease. But now Michael J. Fox has surprised the world by announcing that he would be open to a Hollywood comeback after all.
In an interview with "Entertainment Tonight", the "Back to the Future" star said: "If someone offered me a role, I would do it and have a lot of fun with it."
"Incorporate reality into the role"
Of course, he has no illusions about his physical limitations: "If I step in front of the camera again, I should be able to incorporate my challenges, my reality into the role."
The 62-year-old was diagnosed with the incurable, neurodegenerative disease in 1991 at the age of just 29. Four years ago, Fox announced his retirement from Hollywood: "It's becoming increasingly difficult for me to read words and render them accurately. There's time for 12-hour shooting days and memorizing seven pages of dialogue. And my best days are behind me. To be fair to myself and colleagues, I'm going to retire."
Documentary whetted the appetite for a comeback
What made Fox change his mind was his documentary "Still": "I really enjoyed producing it. I never planned to make one - it just happened."
And even if Fox were never to be in front of the camera again, he calls himself a lucky man because his biggest goal in life has long since come true: "My number one goal was to raise kids and we (he and wife Tracy Pollan) have four wonderful kids."
