Hollywood dream team:
Wilde and Robbie bring “Avengelyne” to the movies!
"Barbie" icon Margot Robbie (33) and director shooting star Olivia Wilde (40) are pooling their talents to bring the tough comic angel "Avengelyne" to the movies. At her side is producer Simon Kinberg, who has already brought "X-Men" and "Deadpool" to life.
According to the "Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety", Wilde is to direct; Robbie is on board with her production company LuckyChap Entertainment.
There was initially no word on the casting of the role of the provocatively sexy fighter, who traditionally wears a tight, figure-hugging vinyl costume. Nevertheless, there is already great excitement among fans of the comics on Twitter.
Fighting angel
The 'Avengelyne' comics were created in the mid-90s by 'Deadpool' creator Rob Liefeld. The titular heroine is a combative angel who takes on demons and other evil forces.
Directed and produced by
Actress Wilde ("Her", "Rush") made her directorial debut in 2019 with the girls' comedy "Booksmart". She then got Florence Pugh and Harry Styles in front of the camera for the science fiction thriller "Don't Worry Darling" (2022).
Australian-born Robbie, who was last seen on the big screen as "Barbie", founded her production company with husband Tom Ackerley and producer Josey McNamara in 2014.
LuckyChap Entertainment's first film was "I, Tonya" in 2017. In it, Robbie played the figure skater Tonya Harding. The company was also involved in the production of films such as "Promising Young Woman", "Barbie" and "Saltburn".
