Woman seriously injured
Treppelweg perpetrator hid camera in toilet facility
A DNA match solved the case of the Tennengau woman (33) who was found with life-threatening head injuries on Hallein's Treppelweg in the fall of 2023. Now, months later, the public prosecutor's office has charged the Serbian cyclist who knocked her down. That was not all: he is also alleged to have filmed people in a public toilet.
The Serbian (45) had no place of residence and was probably in the country illegally. After a police check in February 2024, he was detained pending deportation and his DNA was entered into the database. This also made it possible to solve the criminal case surrounding the seriously injured woman on Treppelweg in Hallein: As the "Krone" reported, passers-by discovered the woman lying covered in blood on the asphalt on September 29, 2023. At the time, it was still completely unclear where the injuries had come from.
Public prosecutor speaks of premeditated crime
After the DNA hit, the public prosecutor's office ordered the accused to be remanded in custody. Police officers began further investigations, and accident expert Gerhard Kronreif also wrote an expert report on behalf of the judiciary. All these findings have now led to the public prosecutor's indictment for grievous bodily harm. According to this, he is said to have deliberately and intentionally rammed into the woman at the time. Ricarda Eder from the public prosecutor's office explains that this is based on several factors such as the traces, the angle of impact and the speed. "The expert opinion points to intentional bodily harm."
Camera hidden in public toilet
But that wasn't all: on August 30, the 45-year-old is said to have locked another woman, unknown to him, in her apartment by attaching a lashing strap to the doorknob and stair railing, making it impossible to open the apartment door. After 15 minutes, police officers were able to free the victim. The charge: deprivation of liberty. The motive? Unclear. He is also alleged to have installed a camera in the cistern of a public toilet facility in the Hallein area, photographed and filmed people going to the toilet. Accusation: data protection offense, and not a sexual offense, explains the spokeswoman. The why? Again, completely unclear.
He is also alleged to have consumed and possessed cannabis and committed several burglaries and thefts. Loot: food, cigarettes, cash, e-scooter and smartphone.
