"GNTM" nipplegate
Straps slipped: Xenia topless on the runway
20 years after Janet Jackson's legendary "Nipplegate" at the Super Bowl, Heidi's "Germany's Next Topmodel" contestant caused a boob flash in the football stadium.
"It's strong, it's sexy, it's confident." That's how designer Christian Cowan described the walk he wanted to see from the models on the football pitch in the eighth episode of "Germany's Next Topmodel - by Heidi Klum". Did Xenia really live up to the celebrity guest's expectations?
Xenia with "Nipplegate" à la Jackson
The "GNTM" contestant was THE eye-catcher of the episode - and not entirely by choice. Because during her walk across the pitch in a pink dream by Cowan, it happened: the strap of her dress slipped and exposed the breast of the otherwise rather shy Xenia - you can see it in the video above.
"I started walking and I was pleasantly surprised because I was actually walking without any problems," Xenia explained. "But I noticed that my strap was slowly coming down ..."
"Oh, is there a boob out there, or is that just me?" asked Heidi Klum during Xenia's walk, also quite surprised. "Is that Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl?" joked star guest Cowan.
"Pretended nothing had happened"
And what did Xenia do? Nothing at all! She finished her walk despite the boob flash. "Well, I thought, as I've learned from the last few seasons, you shouldn't pick at your clothes. And that's why I pretended that nothing had happened."
She had simply marched topless past the football players who were creating a great atmosphere on the edge of the catwalk. One of the football players even "smiled" cheekily at her and she quickly looked away, Xenia laughed after her walk. "Oh no, he's seen my tits," was all she could think at that moment.
"Nobody has to walk the catwalk topless"
But did Xenia react correctly with her outfit hoppala? "It can always happen that your clothes slip during the walk. As a model, it's important to remain professional in such moments and not let anything show," explained Heidi Klum. "But that doesn't mean you can't pull the strap back up, because of course nobody has to walk the catwalk topless."
