Equalizer in the final
1:1! KAC scores for the first time in the final thanks to Petersen
It's possible! The KAC equalizes in the final series against Salzburg directly to 1:1, wins the second match at the Bulls clearly with 5:2. After a weak start, the Klagenfurt team kept on turning up the heat and fixed the victory with two powerplay goals in the final third.
The first few minutes of the game definitely belonged to Salzburg! Vallant was sent to the penalty box after just 105 seconds and was punished - Salzburg's Bourke deflected the disc into the far corner with his skate. Even after that, the Red Jackets took a long time to get into the game. In minute 14, Ganahl fired the first dangerous shot on goal, and then it soon clicked: Petersen marched through two Salzburg players, put the puck on goal and the puck flew in from the pads of Bullen goalie Tolvanen in a high arc. So it was 1:1 going into the dressing room for the first time.
Haudum takes the lead for the first time
And things got even better for the visitors in the second period! After Salzburg's Thaler had shot over, KAC ignited the turbo. Haudum sent Herburger down the wing, got the puck back into the middle and deflected it through the legs of Tolvanen to make it 2:1 for Klagenfurt (24'). The second penalty for too many players on the ice of the evening gave Salzburg a powerplay, then at the end of the penalty time even 14 seconds of double overtime. But there were no consequences.
KAC fully in the game
A short time later, the Furey team were celebrating again! Haudum went down the side, brought the puck right to Postma in front of the goal and the latter let the puck drip off the ice for a 3:1 lead (33'). The KAC were now fully in the game and even dictated the tempo at times. Mursak then conceded a two-minute penalty, but he also survived it.
Lid on in the powerplay
The Red Jackets then struck twice in the power play in the final third: First Haudum got his "double pack", then things got rough: Salzburg ace Nissner checked Witting hard in the head from behind and was given a five-minute penalty plus a game time penalty. And it was here that Mursak finally sealed the deal with the 5:2 from an acute angle. Thomas Raffl's 2:5 was just a cosmetic finish for the Bulls. The KAC has equalized the final series at 1:1, it continues on Tuesday in Klagenfurt.
