Mayrhofen in the Zillertal
Here we go: shrill, shriller, snowbombing!
Under the motto "A journey through space", the legendary road trip kicked off the snowbombing week in Mayrhofen in the Zillertal on Sunday afternoon. Decorated vehicles and the participants' colorful costumes transformed the parade into an impressive spectacle. Numerous onlookers lined the main street to witness the opening of the "Greatest Show on Snow".
The parade started in the late afternoon in early summer temperatures. The colorful procession started at the Horbergbahn valley station in Schwendau and reached its brilliant conclusion at the welcome party in the center of Mayrhofen. There, DJs ensured an exuberant atmosphere and party mood. The motto of the road trip "A journey through space" was implemented by the participants in a creative, colorful and unusual way.
Musicians and DJs from all over the world
For a whole week, thousands of party-goers, mainly from the UK and Ireland, go full throttle and bring the winter season to a close - both in huts in the ski area and in bars and discos in the valley. Top international musicians and DJ greats such as Fatboy Slim, Bicep and the Dub Pistols rock the stages. Tom Clarke from the English band The Enemy even describes Snowbombing as the "best festival in the world". Performances can be admired at the Racket Club, the Arena and the Brück'n Stadl, among others.
Street party with free admission
One of the highlights of this week is the spectacular street party on Thursday, April 11 - starting at 5 pm at the music pavilion in Mayrhofen. This year's theme is "A journey through time". Cool: Admission to the street party is free! Musically, the band Massaoke will heat up the audience with their energetic stage show.
