Crisis at Krems
“Becoming a me company”
It's not just the sporting development of Eastern League soccer club Krems that is worrying. Veteran Flo Sittsam is harsh on his team-mates and the club.
First, they distanced themselves from promotion for economic reasons, and a little later from the title race in sporting terms. Krems is treading water in the Eastern Football League and has been winless for five games. The reasons for the fall? "Unfortunately, there are many," sighs defender Flo Sittsam. "We can't compensate for absences, we also have extreme fluctuations in form," growls the veteran, "and sometimes we also lack the necessary luck."
And apparently also the team spirit. Which is apparently due to the fact that many players are in the dark about their future. "As far as I know, the club has not yet held any contract talks. That's perhaps one of the reasons why many of them want to play themselves into the bargain at the moment, everyone is looking out for themselves," says the former Bundesliga footballer. "You get the feeling that it's becoming an ego business."
"He has to get louder now"
According to Sittsam, it's not down to coach Tommy Flögel. "He has to get a bit louder now, but that's a good thing. We have to make sure that we get back to winning ways." There will be no other way on Saturday at title challengers Donaufeld. The Viennese side have scored eleven (!) goals in their last two games. "They're a big opponent, but giving up is not an option."
