Hairdressing chain happy
Higher wages are already paying off for Klipp
Even though unemployment figures have risen recently: The battle for qualified specialists is still raging. The hairdressing chain Klipp has therefore increased wages to make the profession in its salons more attractive. A step that has already paid off. Training is also being improved.
Why do so many people think the profession of hairdresser and stylist is great, but then decide against it? "It's often because of the salary," says Klipp Managing Director Gottfried Kraft.
The hairdressing chain from Thalheim has responded to this and last year increased the salaries of its employees by up to 18%, with an increase of up to 40% for apprentices.
"This is already bearing fruit - we've had a lot of applications this year," says Kraft. The company is currently training just over 160 apprentices - "we are not only investing in salaries, but also in the quality of the training," says the 56-year-old.
Investing in a training app
Founder Ewald Lanzl initiated his own internal academy many years ago, which accompanies the apprentices in stages up to the final examination. Now there is additional support for the young people by investing in a training app.
In addition to technical training, Klipp has launched its own social fitness program. "There are various workshops - from growing into a team and dealing with demanding customers to resilience," reveals Kraft, who sees this as a way of rounding off the program.
"Calculating efficiently in the interests of the customer"
How did the wage increases affect prices in the salons? Kraft explains: "If I pay well and properly, this must be reflected in the price. Our rents are also rising and energy is becoming more expensive. We calculate efficiently in the interests of our customers."
