At Austria & WAC
The identification figures no longer exist
The great role models, the great identification figures are obviously becoming fewer and fewer in Carinthian soccer - especially at Austria Klagenfurt and WAC. . .
Back in the day, Austria Klagenfurt had aces like Helmut "Kinke" König, Walter "Dago" Koch, Kassim Ramahdani and co. .
In the days of FC Carinthia, not only Almedin Hota, Stanko "Bu Bu" Bubalo and Mario Maric, but also the Carinthians around Heimo Vorderegger were a delight, especially in the early 2000s. . .
At the WAC, the Spanish high-class technician Jacobo (187 appearances), record player Michael Sollbauer (310), then star Michael Liendl (219) led the "Wolves" to Europe. . .
The "new" Austria Klagenfurt achieved promotion with Markus Pink and then promptly made it into the top 6 twice with the striker. . .
. . . these were all still identification figures!
And today? The WAC has many nice talents, but no figureheads! It feels like "lottery tickets" come in from Africa every six months - and are gone again straight away: Mohamed Bamba was a complete success, flushing a good five million euros into the coffers, Augustine Boakye - like Diabate,Karamoko, Zuo or Agyemang - is supposed to be the next one. But such short-term "no-names" just don't bring fans to the arena.
It's similar at the currently more successful Austria Klagenfurt. Although the team with 14 (!) legionnaires is the star, a real driving force is missing on the pitch - which is also reflected in the attendance figures (only 3100 people came to the 2:2 draw against Hartberg in the championship group). And the summer "additions" David Toshevski, Laurenz Dehl and Iba May , who have already been confirmed, will certainly not change that.
