After “stupid” question: hype about reporter’s profile
After Sky reporter Patrick Wasserziehr had an exchange of blows in an interview with Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, the journalist's Transfermarkt profile went through the roof. It has been the most clicked on in the past few days.
In the disappointing 1-0 defeat against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, Schlotterbeck missed a huge chance to equalize. After the game, the BVB professional was asked about the scene. Wasserziehr asked why he had not scored the goal. The 24-year-old reacted irritably: "That really is a stupid question."
When Wasserziehr tried to justify himself, saying that the question wasn't so stupid after all, an argument began - live on TV. "I actually thought it was stupid," says Schlotterbeck. "That's because maybe you've never played soccer before."
Wasserziehr countered that he had been playing soccer for 50 years - and, according to him, not at all badly. This was of little interest to Schlotterbeck - unlike some users on the net. The reporter's player profile went viral after the interview. Many apparently wanted to know more about Wasserziehr's career.
Five games in the Regionalliga
According to "transfermarkt.at", the midfielder (previous stations are unknown) moved to VfL 93 Hamburg in the summer of 1997. He played five games for the club from the Hanseatic city in the Regionalliga Nord (fourth highest division in Germany) and ended his career a year later. No further information is available. The Wasserziehr profile has been available on "transfermarkt" since 2012 and has now become a real hype. In the past few days, it has even left the info pages of superstars such as Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe behind ...
