New trump card in the fight against more and more clothing waste
In Austria, around 83% of textiles are not recycled and end up in landfill sites: a young entrepreneurial duo from Vienna is now offering an online platform for used children's clothing. The app is easy to use and connects interested parties with local and sustainable businesses.
Thinking in terms of generations and passing on clothes within the family or among friends and acquaintances is no longer a matter of course these days. In our fast-moving times, abundance and waste often prevail - especially in big cities. However, because the ecological concept is becoming increasingly important, despite the mountains of textile waste growing, a Viennese entrepreneurial duo has now adopted a new strategy.
Vision in terms of sustainability
The company Neworn has developed a cell phone app of the same name, which can be used to trade in high-quality, used baby and children's clothing. The Viennese start-up also rewards environmentally conscious behavior by allowing users to earn loyalty points by buying and selling items, which they can redeem for discounts at more than 20 local and exclusively sustainable companies. Co-founder Caroline Schober explains in an interview with the "Krone": "Our vision is to extend the lifespan of clothing, sustainably improve the lives of families and also contribute to reducing the carbon footprint," says Schober.
Always buying new baby and children's clothes is almost unaffordable. We also want to help users save money.

According to initial user tests, the platform for Android and Apple devices itself is very user-friendly and secure. Interested parties can also register with Neworn free of charge and start buying and selling clothing and accessories straight away. Climate protection can be that easy in the modern age, it is emphasized.
