Biker (25) seriously injured in fall in underground parking garage

Several people were injured on the roads of Tyrol on Monday, some of them in serious incidents. Probably the most curious occurred in Jochberg when a man was seriously injured in a garage and had to be airlifted to hospital.

"Traffic accident in an underground garage" - that was the message for the Floriani firefighters from Jochberg shortly after 6 pm on Monday. What sounds almost unimaginable at first turned out to be a dramatic operation. Fire brigade commander Florian Stanger obtained preliminary information from the control center based on the report: "There has never been anything like this before. The information also sounded strange to us."

To make matters worse, he was not wearing a helmet and hit his head against the concrete wall.

At the scene, it was a horrific scene: a local man (25) had crashed his scooter and slid into a parked car. "His foot was trapped in the process. To make matters worse, he wasn't wearing a helmet and hit his head against the concrete wall," says Stanger.

The man was seriously injured. "We completed the rescue quickly with three men. The vehicles were then secured and the initial measures were initiated," explains Stanger, who continues: "Everyone involved was pretty much in shock." The injured man was taken by helicopter to the hospital in Innsbruck.

Two crashes caused injuries on the roads
A good two hours earlier, there was a crash in the Karwendel. In Hinterriß, a German motorcyclist (22) crashed and then skidded five meters down an embankment. He suffered injuries to his right shoulder.

Shortly afterwards, the next incident: a local man (65) crashed on a left-hand bend in Fritzens and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
