“Eileen is almost a bit like Thomas Müller”
With her brace against Germany, Eileen Campbell has shot herself into the hearts of red-white-red soccer fans. The 23-year-old Freiburg international proved that she is anything but a "normal" striker during her time at Altach.
"You can just tell that Eileen Campbell is not a template footballer," says a man who must know this for a fact - after all, Altach/Vorderland's successful coach Bernhard Summer worked with the Feldkirch native for a long time. "She's an absolute instinctive footballer who also needs to be given a certain amount of freedom. In that respect, she almost reminds me a little of Bavaria's Thomas Müller." It's clear that Summer is very proud of the departure of the 23-year-old, who moved from Rheindorf to SC Freiburg in the German Bundesliga in the winter, but is still a little sad. But the pride still prevails.
Dream of the Premier League
Especially when it comes to her appearances in the ÖFB team jersey. "You can tell that she can now concentrate 100 percent on soccer," says the 56-year-old. "But you still have to score two goals like she did against Germany first." For Summer, it is clear that Campbell is also increasing her market value and the interest in her person. "She's doing really well so far to play her way into the international spotlight and get closer to her big dream bit by bit!" That would be to play for a club in the English Premier League...
