A bit of fun is a must, especially after such a successful season - Marco Odermatt probably thought so and treated himself and his girlfriend Stella to a day of skiing in 80s mode.

"Every year again," writes the Swiss board giant on Instagram. He also posted a photo of him "shouldering" his girlfriend. Both in, let's say, an outfit that takes some getting used to. Very colorful, very garish, very ... Not 2024 at all, nor should it be. A veritable 80s party was on the agenda. In Engelberg-Titlis, where the overall World Cup winner spent a relaxed day with his girlfriend and friends and even dared to make a daring move on skis (click to the right in the Insta post).

The measure of all things
Odermatt was the measure of all things in the past Ski World Cup winter (and will probably also be in the coming season when the World Championships take place in Saalbach). Thanks to her colleague Lara Gut-Behrami, Switzerland was the dominant nation. 

Thanks to the two of them, seven of the ten individual crystal globes and the Nations Cup went to Switzerland. Urs Lehmann, head of Swiss Ski, spoke of the "best season of modern times by far", but called for humility in the hour of success.

"In sport, everyone knows that the clocks are always reset to zero. Enjoy the moment, celebrate properly, then we have to get going again straight away to keep this great position at the top," said Lehmann. The necessary teamwork at all levels has been working splendidly for some time now. "From my point of view, we have a dream line-up in the association at the moment."
