250 km/h! Car thieves speed away from police helicopter

Armed and dangerous - youth gangs are becoming increasingly brutal. This is shown by the investigation into the case of a group of young criminals who were after expensive cars. When two accomplices were caught, they sped away from the Cobra and the police helicopter at more than 250 km/h.

Investigators have been hot on the heels of the members of a notorious youth gang for some time. The hardened accomplices specialize in stealing expensive BMW, Audi and Mercedes cars. One night in March, officers from SOKO Kfz were once again on the lookout in Vienna and the surrounding area, as the "Krone" has now learned.

Blockade broken through
When two perpetrators, armed with handguns, were targeted by the investigators, the Cobra special unit took over the operation and struck. The suspects managed to escape and sped off at breakneck speed. In Guntramsdorf in the Lower Austrian district of Mödling, the criminals broke through the police cordon in their car. A police car was damaged.

150 km/h in the local area
The reckless serial thieves were unstoppable. They drove dangerously through the villages at more than 150 km/h and thundered southwards on the A2 at more than 250 km/h. Not even the police helicopter was able to catch them. Not even the police helicopter was able to catch up with the perpetrators.

The criminals themselves stopped the horror trip at around 1 a.m. in Styria. Near Fürstenfeld, the driver lost control of the steering wheel and the car ended up in the ditch. The two occupants fled on foot. Cobra officers were able to arrest one suspect shortly afterwards on the banks of the Feistritz. Less than 45 minutes later, police officers on patrol from Königsdorf in Burgenland tracked down the accomplice with their service dog in an allotment garden settlement. Since then, the investigations by SOKO Kfz have been in full swing.
