Brilliant start
180,000 visitors flock to the fairgrounds
Cheers, hustle and bustle, merriment - the Upper Austrians' favorite folk festival has once again got off to a picture-book start. Thanks once again to the weather gods, who have always been kind to the Urfahranermarkt, around 180,000 visitors were welcomed to the banks of the Danube in Urfahr on the opening weekend.
"The Urfahranermarkt has a magical attraction for people of all ages - from the very young to the young at heart, there is something for everyone with the extensive program on offer. The great number of visitors after the first three days shows that everyone involved is doing an excellent job," says VP Market Officer Doris Lang-Mayerhofer, delighted with the successful start.
Swaying, laughing, dancing
A highlight awaits all young-at-heart Volksfest fans on Tuesday. The popular senior citizens' afternoon becomes the senior citizens' tombola. The difference to before: the social get-together starts at 12 noon. What remains, of course, is the good atmosphere, great prizes and presenter Walter Witzany, a radio veteran and audience favorite, who incidentally celebrated a milestone birthday in February with a cake decorated with 80 candles.
