Rumors about marital crisis
Stefani regrets her career: “Wanted to stay at home”
Gwen Stefani (54) spoke openly about her relationship with Blake Shelton (47) and her career in a new interview. The singer revealed that she regrets her time with the band No Doubt. She would have preferred to stay with her children.
Gwen Stefani can look back on a long career. She rose to worldwide fame with the music group No Doubt in 1996, and the rock band's last performance together was in 2015. She has also enjoyed great success as a solo artist.
But now the "Don't Speak" performer has admitted that she would rather have been there for her children Kingston (17), Zuma (15) and Apollo (10) than working with the band.
Stefani felt like a "failure"
Gwen Stefani graced the cover of the new issue of "Nylon" magazine and spoke openly in the interview about her career and the things she would do differently today. When she was a member of No Doubt, she wanted to "please" her bandmates Tom Dumont (56), Tony Kanal (53) and Adrian Young (54).
Every time she "left her family" to make music and "didn't come home with a song", she felt like a "failure". "I would say: 'Oh my God, I didn't have dinner with my family and I didn't write a song. I wasted a whole day of my life trying to get back into No Doubt'," the 54-year-old recalled.
"Things are changing"
Stefani, who was in a relationship with Gavin Rossdale from 2002 to 2015, had already realized during the 2012 tour that she no longer had anything to give the band. "Things change when you have two babies. I had no ideas. I was so insecure," she said, explaining that she felt creatively "dead" after the birth of her son Kingston.
When she was pregnant with Zuma, she was afraid of disappointing everyone. During the time after the birth, her band colleagues had been waiting for her. The 54-year-old came to the conclusion: "I should have just stayed with my family."
Marital crisis with Blake Shelton
Gwen Stefani has been happily married to Blake Shelton since 2021. Nevertheless, rumors of a separation keep circulating. Most recently, in February, a source revealed to "Life & Style" that the music stars' marriage was in crisis because they were both too busy.
In an interview with "Nylon", however, the singer clarified: "The rumors are just lies." She continued: "When you're in love and have values that really match, nobody can touch us."
