Mayor invites you
After the “giant hole” debate, residents have their say
The construction site in the Hollabrunn pedestrian zone is quiet - at least as far as the faults are concerned: all cracks have come to a standstill. Otherwise, a lot of movement is still to be expected: Mayor Alfred Babinsky on researching the causes and involving local residents for the purpose of compensation.
"We will carefully check whether all requirements have been met," explains Mayor Alfred Babinsky (ÖVP) in an interview with the "Krone" newspaper. Following criticism from all opposition parties, Babinsky also wants to sit down with them. "Before that, however, it is important to determine all the documents, which error triggered the reductions and whether all requirements have been met," says the city boss.
Meeting of all parties involved on how to proceed
In any case, Babinsky's priority is the residents directly affected: "Everyone should be given the opportunity to express their concerns and wishes," he says, announcing a meeting at the end of this week - from the municipality to the district authority to the builder and developer, everyone should present their point of view.
City backs the residents, situation "unstable"
Should there be any disagreements, the city will definitely stand by its citizens legally, the head of the city emphasized when asked. This could well be the case, as the crux of the matter is that the local residents had already pointed out the groundwater situation in the area several times during the approval process (the documents are available to the "Krone") and a water rights procedure was only initiated afterwards.
