“Pictures from Klagenfurt will go around the world!”
In January 2025, the snowboard and freeski Big Air spectacle will take place in Klagenfurt's EM Arena - as Krone readers already know. Find out all about the stars, Carinthian participation, live musical acts, tickets and costs here:
Snow spectacle instead of soccer - that's what you'll get in winter 2025 at Klagenfurt's Wörthersee Stadium! The 30,000 spectator arena will be transformed into a unique big-air event. As is well known, the Freeski and Snowboard World Cup will be held here from January 1st.
In other words: from December 9, a 128-metre-long and 45-metre-high ski jump will be set up where the grass is usually visible. It even rises 15 meters above the stadium roof - a perfect stage for the stars' stunts!
First and foremost Anna Gasser. The two-time Olympic champion is looking forward to the spectacular home event like a little child. "We will win many young people over to our sport with this competition! I want to stand on the podium in front of my fans!" hopes the 32-year-old from Millstatt, whose boyfriend Clemens Millauer (Upper Austria) will of course also be there.
Carinthian youngsters want to be there
Eric Dovjak and Christina Holzfeind from Carinthia could also be there. Matej Svancer (Slbg) is Austria's hope among the freestyle skiers.
The training starts on New Year's Day and January 2, with the qualification on January 3 and the competitions on January 4 and 5. "The pictures will go around the world, it will be a spectacle in a class of its own," emphasizes ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober.
Organizer "Limited Events" also has music stars performing on the snow: Finch and Gabry Ponte will perform on January 4, Bonez MC and Culcha Candela on January 5 (both from 8 pm).
Ticket prices
Tickets are available online from Thursday (on the homepage of Ski Austria and Big Air Klagenfurt). Cost: between €49.90 and €69.90.
Million project
20,000 fans are permitted per day, with the gates opening for visitors at 4 pm. The event costs a total of around 2.5 million euros.
