Big guardian angels in rear-end collision involving two trucks

One of the two buses almost hit a truck.

The Villach main fire station, the Vassach and Töplitsch volunteer fire departments, the highway police, the Red Cross and ASFINAG were alerted to an incident on the A2 Südautobahn near the Villach junction on Thursday morning. 

"A coach crashed into another coach and almost hit a truck," reports OBI Martin Regenfelder, deputy commander of the Villach main fire station. Shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, the main fire station, the Vassach fire brigade and the Töplitsch fire brigade were alerted.

The fire departments were also alerted to a traffic accident on the Südautobahn in the area of the Villach highway junction on Thursday.

No further injuries
Two occupants, including one of the bus drivers, were taken to Villach Regional Hospital by the Red Cross for further treatment with minor injuries. The remaining occupants of the bus were taken to the nearby highway operator's premises in the fire department's crew transport vehicles and some of the damaged but partially roadworthy coaches, where they were able to wait for the replacement bus. "It is fortunate that there were no major injuries in this accident," said Regenfelder. 

As a result of the accident, however, two lanes were contaminated with oil and fuel over a length of around 50 meters; together with Asfinag, these operating materials were bound. The vehicle parts lying around were also removed.
