Promise broken?
After criticism: Kahr pours into Kastner boss
After Kastner boss Martin Wäg made it clear via "Krone" that a roof conversion is currently not an issue and also sharply criticized the city government, the mayor of Graz, Elke Kahr, has now hit back with unusually harsh words.
Via "Krone", Kastner boss Martin Wäg made it clear on Thursday that a roof conversion at the traditional department store is not an issue at the moment, citing economic reasons. In the same breath, he also criticized the city government - the mood in Graz had become "toxic" for entrepreneurs.
Too much for Mayor Elke Kahr (KPÖ), who for her part went on the offensive on Thursday: "It takes a lot to knowingly risk the city of Graz losing its World Heritage status for 15 years and now turn the tables," she shook her head.
Kastner & Öhler had repeatedly promised to finalize the roof: "But the city was repeatedly put off and various reasons were given for the non-realization." According to Kahr, Wäg's claim about the lack of construction progress in Neutorgasse is also "a slap in the face to all those who work there diligently every day to complete the project on time."
