License - yes or no
Day of reckoning! Does DSV Leoben have to tremble?
Deadline! On Friday, the Bundesliga will announce who will receive the license for the coming season in the top soccer division. While Sturm, Hartberg and almost-promoted GAK are probably more relaxed about the decision, things could be more exciting for DSV Leoben.
In sporting terms, neo-Leoben coach Carsten Jancker will be looking for the first win in his second Leoben era in the battle for second place in the Second Football League at FAC on Friday. "Carsten is like an i-Phone," smiles DSV president Dejan Stankovic, "the empty battery is now recharged, he's full of energy. We're sitting in the office right now and planning the next season."
However, it cannot be ruled out that DSV will not yet receive the Bundesliga license in the first instance: "We were under time pressure, submitted the documents late," says Stankovic, "but we have everything - normally there should be no problems." The Blast Furnace squad wants to step on the gas even more next season. After all, the stated goal is promotion to the Bundesliga!
Outsiders are keeping a close eye on the licensing process for Leoben. The reports that emerged at the end of the year - especially against DSV chairman Mario Bichler, who was repeatedly confronted with accusations against his person due to his role in the crypto company "Paraiba" - naturally also brought the Bundesliga onto the scene at the time.
