The Wachau, a jewel of the Austrian wine landscape, invites you to the annual Wine Spring, which not only marks the beginning of the wine season, but also represents a milestone in sustainability. With the "Krone" you and your companion can be part of this celebration of Wachau wine culture.

On May 4 and 5, more than 100 wineries will open their doors to the public to present the Wachau's first sustainably certified vintage. Visitors can look forward to a variety of wines in the Steinfeder®, Federspiel® and Smaragd® categories, all of which bear the "Nachhaltig Austria" seal.

This year is particularly noteworthy as all the wines are certified sustainable by Vinea Wachau, an association that ensures the protection of the Wachau region. This not only means that the grapes are harvested by hand without the use of chemical additives, but also that environmentally friendly and resource-conserving viticulture is practiced. This is an important step for the Wachau region, which is thus underlining its pioneering role in Austrian wine production.

International and local wine culture combined
In addition to local wines, guest winemakers from Germany will also enrich the event. Winegrowers from the Mosel, Nahe and Rheingau winegrowing regions will present their wines, rounding off the tasting program. This provides an excellent opportunity to explore and compare the diversity of the wine regions.

The event is not only a feast for wine connoisseurs, but also a cultural highlight. The legendary Steinfeder Night takes place on Saturday, May 4, at Spitz Castle and promises a night full of enjoyment and entertainment. In addition, many wine taverns and restaurants throughout the Wachau are open and offer culinary specials that perfectly complement the wines.

Sustainability and comfort

A comprehensive transport concept has been developed to ensure a sustainable and comfortable visit. There are regular bus connections, Danube ferries and even a train that takes visitors directly to the heart of the Wine Spring.

The use of all shuttles is free with the Weinfrühling wristband, which is available for €30.
