Woman sexually harassed – police officer intervened

A drunk man (38) was harassing a woman in the Meidlinger Hauptstraße subway station. Her "rescuer" was injured when he intervened. 

It happened in broad daylight, hundreds of passengers were crowded into the carriages of the U4 subway at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday when a visibly drunk man (38) got on the train and started roaring around and harassing people, who turned away in disgust.

When the train stopped at Meidlinger Hauptstraße station and the passengers got off, the drunkard started chasing a woman whom he had already targeted in the subway. She shouted at him several times to leave her alone. But the man didn't let up and groped his victim.

Woman fled, man attacked rescuer
In the meantime, an off-duty police officer became aware of the situation. The officer repeatedly asked the 38-year-old to stop his fisticuffs and stood protectively in front of the woman. She took advantage of the situation and fled. This really enraged the groper and he attacked the police officer. On the escalator of the subway station, the drunk man exerted vehement pressure on the officer, causing them both to fall.

The police officer sustained minor injuries to his knee. Meanwhile, witnesses raised the alarm. The uniformed colleagues were able to make a provisional arrest of the 38-year-old. When they tested the suspect for alcohol, they were astonished. The suspected perpetrator had 2.4 per mille in his blood.
