In the rotation system?

Formula 1 faces a “return of the classics”

Formula 1 probably has plans in the pipeline to return to traditional circuits in Europe from 2026. Germany in particular is to be allowed to host a Grand Prix again. A rotation system could be the key to this.

Only nine races are being held in Europe in the current Formula 1 season. The "premier class" is by no means happy about this. That is why there should be more races on traditional circuits in the future, for example in Germany.

So far, the entry fees have been too high for many venues in Europe. That is why, according to Sportbuzzer, a rotation principle is now being planned that could ease the financial burden on the individual organizers. Some "classics" are set to return to the program from 2026. According to the plan, the individual routes would be rotated on the race calendar rather than annually.

Germany is ready
"We will see something interesting in 2026. We are discussing with other organizers in Europe to do something that will be announced soon," said Managing Director Stefano Domenicali. There are many options. Above all, races at the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring are mentioned.

"We have been, are and will remain in contact with Formula 1 and are constantly exploring joint options," explained the Managing Director of the Hockenheimring, Jorn Teske, to dpa. A rotation model with the Nürburgring could bring the breakthrough.
