For second division
Rejected! Austria Salzburg does not get license
The moment of truth has arrived. The fans of Salzburg's Austria must now be very strong, because the Violets have not been granted a license for the second division and must now hope for the second instance. League rivals Imst, on the other hand, only have to improve in sporting terms.
As expected, western league team Austria Salzburg did not receive the license for the second division in the first instance. The license was denied due to infrastructure and financing, the Bundesliga announced on Friday. Those responsible tried everything for months, but it still wasn't enough. Now the Maxglaners have until Monday, April 22nd to submit the missing documents. "We are prepared for the foreseeable scenario that we will have to take the legitimate route via the second instance. If, in addition to the infrastructure, the complete financing is not secured by the last day of the protest period, we will let this deadline pass without any further submissions - even in this case, we would of course like to crown our anniversary season with the regional league championship title and go into the 2024/25 season optimally strengthened," say the Violets.
Meanwhile, league rivals Imst, who are in fifth place in the table, are delighted to have been awarded the license. Should Austria not receive the license, second place would be enough for the Tyroleans to be promoted. They are currently only five points short of this.
The current second division teams Dornbirn, Leoben and Stripfing also have to tremble. Voitsberg, on the other hand, have been granted a license from the Regionalliga Mitte.
Bundesliga irritated by change of coach
The other two Salzburg clubs, Red Bull Salzburg and FC Liefering, have received their licenses as usual. LASK, on the other hand, was the only Bundesliga club not to receive its license due to the change of coach. "Senate 5 apparently came to the conclusion, solely due to the presence of Maximilian Ritscher at the press conference on Wednesday, not to grant LASK the license in the first instance due to the change of coach, unlike in previous years," said Senate 5.
