Well, that's it!
Viennese woman finds mouse head in frozen vegetables
A Viennese woman recently discovered an unappetizing garnish in a pack of frozen vegetables. A mouse head was peeking out from between baby carrots and broccoli florets. "We threw the vegetables and the whole pan away", the reader reporter described the gruesome incident in an interview with "Krone".
The 23-year-old wanted to cook for herself and her father on Tuesday. The side dish was supposed to be "roasted vegetables 4 seasons". "At first I didn't even notice the head because it was hidden under the vegetables," says the Viennese. It was only when the vegetables had been in the pan for a while that she made the gruesome discovery while stirring. "It was a big shock. I even had tears in my eyes," says the reader reporter.
"My father had to dispose of it"
But it could have been much worse. "Fortunately, I didn't taste it in the meantime," says the Viennese woman. She was glad that she wasn't alone at home. "My father then had to dispose of it, I was too scared." The pan and wooden spoon also ended up in the bin.
Once she had got over the shock a little the next day, she contacted the company. "I sent the pictures together with the product code. They said it could take two weeks before I got a reply," says the 23-year-old.
Iglo: "Regrettable, but ultimately an isolated case"
In a statement, the Iglo company said it was "also surprised by this event". It is an "unfortunate but ultimately isolated case", emphasized Alfred Jansen from Iglo. The company reacted immediately when it was informed of the incident by the Viennese woman. All products available on the market from the batch in question had been removed from the shelves. In addition, an investigation was launched together with the external supplier to find out how this could have happened.

Vegetables are checked twice for foreign bodies
During the vegetable harvest, the loud machines actually drive away all the animals in the field, explained the company. The vegetables are then cleaned and foreign objects, such as branches or paper, are automatically sorted out. This is followed by a manual inspection by employees who check the produce on the conveyor belt for any remaining components and sort them out.
Iglo emphasizes that "food safety is our top priority and we want to provide a positive eating experience". The company "wholeheartedly apologizes" to the Viennese family. The company promised to "show its appreciation for the unfortunate and understandable inconvenience caused to the family".
We can only hope that the compensation does not involve products: Because for the time being, the young Viennese woman has no more desire for frozen vegetables, as she revealed to "Krone".
