Does RB coach have to go?
Automatically saved draft
After being knocked out of the ÖFB Cup, is Red Bull Salzburg now also losing the championship title? After their 3-1 defeat at LASK, the Bulls could be overtaken at the top of the championship group by Sturm Graz on Sunday. Coach Gerhard Struber is no longer undisputed. Here are the comments on the game:
"A game like this doesn't make for a slender foot," puffed Struber in an interview with Sky. "Logically, it's also my responsibility to deliver a better performance here, to get the points we planned. But we didn't do that. Of course I'm on board with that. But I'm not thinking about my position as coach right now. I don't think we've delivered the performance we wanted. We now have to get going and deliver what we're all capable of in the last few games."
But what's the problem? Struber: "We wanted to present ourselves very differently. In truth, we didn't manage that, we lost the thread and the flow of the game. It just wasn't the face that normally defines us. That makes us think about this defeat to a certain extent. There are moments in the game that throw us off our rhythm. What normally characterizes our team is that we don't give the game away when it's difficult. When you put in a performance like today, you can get the impression that you're in trouble. We have to make sure that we form a strong axis in the team. We have very close coordination within the club and can trust each other. Now we have to join forces."
Darasz is "enormously proud
LASK coach Thomas Darazs was full of praise after his first match on the LASK bench: "I'm enormously proud of the team and very pleased with our performance. Defensively, we conceded very little and repeatedly won the ball well. We also often found the right solutions in our own possession, even if I would like to see a lot more in the future. The team showed what it's made of today and we were rewarded for a good performance with a well-deserved win. But today can only be the beginning. The lads can play soccer, we don't need to hide from anyone, not from Red Bull Salzburg, not from Sturm, not from Rapid."
Matchwinner Marin Ljubicic after his treble: "That was very important for me and for the team today. It's been a long time since my last goal, today is very good for my self-confidence, we needed that. Scoring goals is also my job. I haven't scored for so long now, the last one was here against Salzburg. Everyone asks me why I always score for Croatia in the U21 team and not here at LASK. Maybe it's because I feel more important there and am needed more. It's a bit different here."
