Punch of the week
Intellectual self-fire in front of the camera
Some people are born to read texts from moderation cards - if only because they are embarrassed when they give free rein to their own thoughts. Former entertainer Alfons Haider has proven that he is one of these people.
What actually happened to Alfons Haider? We will nevertheless answer a question that nobody in this country asks except Haider himself: he is sitting in a television discussion (presumably because he was invited, although in the end you don't know) - and talking about current issues that hardly anyone has asked about so far: What would Alfons Haider think about it. Most recently on Wild Umstritten on Puls24. There we learn all kinds of things about Haider.
Intelligence test à la Haider
For example, we learn that he is "too intelligent" to go into politics. Which isn't unfunny for someone who was at times decried as an SPÖ appendix. An entertainer who thinks as much as Haider has probably not forgotten that he once hosted the red party conference, where he boldly declared: "The future of this country is at stake!" In the same Puls24 program, Alfons Haider was then intelligent enough to confuse Russia with the USSR, albeit only briefly, and ramble on about the war in Ukraine. Intellectual self-fire in front of a running camera.
Alfons Haider may be an expert on Mörbisch, perhaps he secretly hosts the Opera Ball at home for his friends, but he is not a great commentator on the overall global political situation. Tip to the man who is too intelligent to go into politics: Next time, please be intelligent enough to keep quiet about it. Haider - our Punch of the week.
