Iran-Israel conflict
Explosions in Iraq, air defenses ready in Syria
Iran's armed forces attacked Israel directly for the first time on Sunday night. According to US President Joe Biden, "almost all" of the 300 drones and missiles were intercepted. Observers now expect Israel to retaliate. Syrian air defenses have already been activated.
Explosions have been reported from Kurdish northern Iraq. On Sunday night, around 20 rockets are said to have fallen in the province of Erbil, where a US consulate and a US military base are located. Warning sirens were reportedly heard at the consulate. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is close to the opposition, air defenses were also activated in Iran's ally Syria.
Israel's army covered up
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari remained mum on Israel's response. Further measures are being discussed, he said. The armed forces are still fully operational. Both Israel and Jordan reopened their airspace on Sunday morning.
As reported , Iran's armed forces attacked Israel directly for the first time on Sunday night. 99 percent of the missiles are said to have been intercepted. According to Hagari, the Israeli air defense worked together with "the air force and air defense of our partners", such as the USA. Ballistic missiles hit the area of the Nevatim airbase and caused minor damage to the infrastructure.
Attacks from Iraq and Yemen
According to initial information, a ten-year-old nomad was seriously injured in the major attack. According to Hagari, there were also attacks from Iraq and Yemen, but these did not reach Israel. Dozens of rockets were fired from Lebanon into northern Israel. No one was injured.
The Iranian operation entitled "Sincere Promise" was a retaliatory attack for the killing of high-ranking officers in Syria. On April 1, two brigadier generals were killed in a suspected Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy compound in the Syrian capital Damascus.
