Lost control
Attacks with glass bottles during mass brawl
On Sunday night, at least ten teenagers caused a wild scene in Schwanenstadt (Upper Austria). A verbal argument got so out of hand on the town square that the ruffians attacked each other with kicks, punches and glass bottles. The police later found one of the injured men (20) lying on the ground.
Six police patrols and two ambulances had to arrive because at least ten people between the ages of 16 and 22 had apparently completely lost control of themselves. Alcohol was also involved when the situation escalated at around three o'clock in the morning on Schwanenstadt's town square.
Insults were the trigger
According to the police, the situation was probably triggered by insults from a 22-year-old towards several young people, which was followed by a mass brawl involving at least ten people - all of the young brawlers were from the surrounding area.
Only when the attacks with kicks, punches and glass bottles had calmed down did police officers find a 20-year-old local lying on the ground not far from the town square. He was probably injured in the brawl and had to be taken to the hospital in Vöcklabruck by ambulance.
Videos of the brawl
Bystanders filmed the wild scenes. As a result, most of the suspects have already been identified in the vicinity of the incident.
