Austria optimistic
License? “I’m sure it’s still possible”
Despite the rejection in the first instance, western league team Austria Salzburg is positive about promotion. Competitor Imst lost points once again. It is still unclear how things will continue in Bischofshofen with Adonis Spica.
Unsurprisingly, the Bundesliga Austria Salzburg issued a rejection on Friday regarding a license for the second division for the time being. The problems are mainly due to the infrastructure. However, President Claus Salzmann describes these as "minor issues". He is hoping for the second instance.
This issue is also very present within the team. "I've spoken to the team about it. The board has worked well so far and we are behind them," says coach Christian Schaider, expressing solidarity. "I'm sure it's still possible." The players are also following events closely. "I think things are looking pretty good," says goalie Manuel Kalman.
Bischofshofen is helping out
However, the bureaucracy is not in the team's hands. The Violets completed their own task against Kufstein on Saturday with a confident 4:0. This brought them one step closer to their big goal. Because the players and coach are clear: "We want to become champions!"
As league leaders, they have a four-point lead over Saalfelden. Even though the Maxglans are only third in the spring table, their form is on the up again after the opening defeat at Silz/Mötz.
The Austrians may end up giving a small thank-you to Bischofshofen. The team from Pongau took points off Imst, their only rivals for promotion, in a 3-3 draw. The Tyroleans, who had already received their license from Senate 5 in the first instance, only scored the equalizer in stoppage time. Much to the disappointment of BSK coach Adonis Spica. After all, the home side had once again let a lead slip from their grasp and were already two goals in front. At the moment, the reigning national champions are in trouble. "We're having a lot of bad luck," says Spica.
The 31-year-old does not yet know what will happen after the season. According to "Krone" information, however, he is likely to be sent back to the second tier once again. That wouldn't come as a surprise either.
