Limited edition!
Meghan’s strawberry jam causes plenty of ridicule
Anyone who wants to spread jam à la Duchess Meghan on their bread will probably have the opportunity to do so in future. A hand-picked number of influencers have already enjoyed the strawberry jam from Meghan's newly founded brand American Riviera Orchard. However, it has been met with plenty of ridicule and scorn online.
It was only at the beginning of March that it was announced that Duchess Meghan would also like to celebrate success with her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard in the future. Will the concept work? With her first PR campaign, Prince Harry's wife is not only causing a stir online, but above all mixed feelings.
Influencers were allowed to taste Meghan jam
The reason: a hand-picked number of influencers were recently sent a royal package. The box contained a jar of strawberry jam, of all things.
Limited edition strawberry jam, mind you! As the label is supposed to prove, only 50 jars of this sweet delicacy were produced. I wonder if the Duchess of Sussex was at the stove herself?
In any case, Meghan's strategy worked. Influencers such as fashion designer Tracy Robbins and Meghan's new best friend Delfina Blaquier, wife of Prince Harry's polo buddy Ignacio Figueras, diligently shared photos of Meghan's jam on social media.
But while some people are delighted that they have never had a better strawberry jam on their bread, many social media users find the campaign more than a little strange.
"Can't stop laughing"
"I can't stop laughing," tweeted Angela Levin, a freelance journalist who also writes for the Daily Mail, for example, and added: "Stop the presses. It's a limited edition of 50. We're looking at glass number 17."
One X user, on the other hand, sensed the next scandal. After all, the numbering on Meghan's jam jars could reveal which of her influencer friends the Duchess prefers over others, he joked.
Meghan now a jam cook?
Another X-user, on the other hand, quipped: "Who really believes that Meghan stood in her kitchen and made hundreds of jars of jam?", while another laughed: "When did Meghan learn to make jam?"
And another even speculated that the Duchess of Sussex had done nothing more than transfer jam from the supermarket into jars of her new lifestyle brand.
Jam not yet on the market
When the strawberry jam from American Riviera Orchard will be available for Duchess Meghan's fans to buy has not yet been revealed. There is also still only speculation about other products that will be sold under the ex-actress's brand. Meghan may also want to sell tableware or cookbooks, according to reports at the beginning of March.
There is already an Instagram page and an American Riviera Orchard website. However, nothing more than the new logo can be found on them yet. So it will be interesting to see what else Meghan wants to "cook up" for her fans in the future ...
