Difficult time
Prince William back on duty after Kate’s diagnosis
Prince William has announced his first official appointment since Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis. Royal fans won't have to wait long ...
The Prince and Princess of Wales are going through a difficult time at the moment. Following an abdominal operation in January, Princess Kate was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, she has had to undergo adjuvant chemotherapy to kill any cancer cells still in her body to prevent a later recurrence.
She announced her diagnosis shortly before Easter in a video in which she also spoke about how difficult it was to explain the situation to her three children, Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (6).
Return important for the royal family
They used the Easter break, which lasts three weeks in England, to relax with the children in the countryside, be together and do things together before they have to go back to school and possibly face curious questions from their classmates.
Among other things, William attended an Aston Villa v Lille soccer match with his eldest son George last week.
For the very caring William, too, this week marks the end of a period in which he was able to devote all his energy to the recovery of his wife and children.
He has announced his first royal appearances. His return to his duties is important for the royal family, as King Charles is also unable to make public appearances due to cancer and treatment.
Surplus food
The 31-year-old heir to the British throne will visit Surrey and West London on Thursday to "shine a spotlight on the impact that organizations in the region have on the community and the environment through their work".
The Prince will first visit the charity Surplus to Supper to see how surplus food is delivered, sorted and repackaged to be delivered to charities.
He will then visit a youth center in the capital, which regularly receives surplus food from the charity, to see how they help the young people they serve.
William last attended an event to tackle homelessness in Sheffield on March 19 - three days before Kate's cancer reveal on March 22.
