Suri Cruise turns 18
This will now be Tom Cruise’s lost daughter
He always wanted to "be there for her and love her", but when Katie Holmes divorced Tom Cruise in 2012, she was given sole custody of their daughter Suri and the Hollywood superstar lost contact with his only biological child. Suri Cruise is now celebrating her 18th birthday. It is said that she wants to start university in the fall.
There was a lot of excitement when Tom Cruise became a father in 2006 and he was always proud to show off his little girl. Dressed like a little doll, she made for the cutest photos. And when she was able to walk herself, her little feet were in children's dancing shoes with heels, which led to heated discussions all over the world as to whether this was allowed.
Too visible
Holmes now thinks that her daughter was too visible back then.
Perhaps she regrets it. In any case, she has protected her child ever since. Very "gladly protected", in fact, as she said in the US edition of "Glamour" in the April issue.
Sole custody
In the course of the divorce, Katie Holmes is said to have signed a confidentiality agreement about her time with the Scientologist so that she would have sole custody of her daughter. It is unclear whether this applies beyond the 18th birthday of her daughter, who looks very much like her, and also to the girl herself.
According to reports, Suri's monthly maintenance payment of a reported 33,000 dollars will end on her birthday on April 18, which would cut off any further connection between the two.
It is said that Suri wants to go to college and study fashion and design after she finishes school.
"Incredible human being"
Suri Cruise is considered artistically talented and has sung on the title song of Katie Holmes' film "Alone Together" and previously on "Rare Objects".
"I hope she always does something in my movies. I always ask her to," Holmes revealed. "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent," she added. "She's an incredible person."
