Affluence ranking
Lower Austria is clearly number 1 in terms of prosperity
Purchasing power is the hard currency, so to speak, when it comes to the prosperity of Austria's regions. Current analyses now show where the money is at home. The result may surprise some people ...
Individual citizens may not notice this at first glance when looking into their wallets. But the latest market analyses by RegioData Research confirm this: Lower Austria is clearly number 1 among the federal states in terms of purchasing power.
Rich and poor
64,523 euros are available to an average household between Enns and Leitha per year to "purchase goods, services and rights", as the official definition of purchasing power states. This puts Lower Austria more than six percent above the national average. By way of comparison: Vienna, with a financial power of just EUR 54,162 per household, is practically Austria's poorhouse.
Highest purchasing power
And when it comes to what each individual can afford, Lower Austrians are also ahead. This is because 28,271 euros is 4.4 percent more purchasing power for each inhabitant of the largest federal state than the Austrian average. Bringing up the rear in this ranking are the Carinthians with 25,799 euros.
We Lower Austrians are at the top of this ranking, because there are more people in our state who are willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Prosperity earned
For Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, this result proves that "the performance of our companies and the hard work of our citizens ensure our prosperity". In future, the aim is to drive the country forward with digital change, responsible use of resources and innovations in the healthcare sector.
