Onur Cinel
Start of the short adventure
Onur Cinel led his first session as coach of Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday in Taxham. Before that, former coach Gerhard Struber bid farewell to the team. On the pitch, things got down to business straight away and many different forms of play were practised.
Before new Salzburg coach Onur Cinel asked the team onto the training pitch for the first time yesterday morning, the focus was once again briefly on the "old" coach. Gerhard Struber came to Taxham in the morning and said goodbye to the squad.
The whole team then took to the pitch - even injured players such as Capaldo and Kjaergaard took part, at least for a while. Cinel, who will be replaced by U18 coach Daniel Beichler in his actual coaching job at second division club Liefering until the summer, already emphasized at his inaugural press conference that he attaches great importance to the training sessions: "Intensive sessions are the basis for me. We want to live up to our claim of dominating games." At his "premiere", the 38-year-old German-Turk practised various forms of play, often gave instructions and repeatedly brought the team together in a tight circle. You got the feeling from the players that it was a kind of new beginning for them, that they were in a good mood and wanted to show themselves to the new coach. "First impressions are important," said Roko Simic.
Svensson hot candidate
After the session, Cinel had a chat with the captains (Ulmer, Dedic, Schlager) and substitute goalkeeper Horn. Then the first training day of his new adventure was already over. It was openly communicated that this will only last until the summer. The search for a successor is not in a hurry yet, the hottest candidate is former Liefering coach Bo Svensson.
