Missile launches planned
Hezbollah commander killed in drone attack
According to the Israeli army, a Hezbollah commander was killed in an attack in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. The pro-Iranian militia confirmed his death. An Israeli drone hit Ismail Yusuf Baz's car in the village of Ain Baal.
Lebanese media also reported, citing security sources from southern Lebanon, that the man killed was a leading member of the Hezbollah militia. Two other people were injured in the attack near the Israeli border. According to the Israeli armed forces, Ismail Yusuf Baz was responsible for the military activities of the pro-Iranian militia in the affected area. Among other things, the commander had planned rocket launches towards Israel.
Dead in another attack
Another attack in the Lebanese town of Chehabiyeh is said to have caused further casualties. Lebanon's NNA news agency reported that there were deaths and injuries. The attack is said to have targeted two cars.
Israel's army had also previously announced that it had registered two attack drones on Israeli territory. They had exploded in the area around Beit Hillel. Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the militia, it was aimed at a platform of the Israeli missile defense system.
Another Hezbollah member killed
Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for several attacks on Israeli targets. In response to the attack in Ain Baal, rockets were fired at Beit Hillel. Hezbollah also announced the death of another member, without giving further details.
Since the beginning of the Gaza war following the massacre by the Islamist Hamas in Israel on October 7, there have been daily confrontations, including deadly ones, between Israel's army and militant groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon on the Israeli-Lebanese border. In both countries, civilians have also been killed in mutual attacks.
