Bayern hero Kimmich? “You have no idea

Bayern's Joshua Kimmich has had to put up with a lot of criticism in recent months. After the Champions League match against FC Arsenal, in which Kimmich scored the golden goal to win 1:0, TV pundit and former international Sami Khedira took up the cudgels for the 29-year-old.

"A quick word about Kimmich," said Khedira on DAZN after the final whistle. "Football is almost always fair in the end. What he got this season - he can't take corners, he should move to another country, we don't need him, he can't do anything. I don't know, dear experts, but you have no idea!"

"He'll show that again at the European Championship"
Khedira, who became world champion with Germany in 2014, also looked ahead to the coming summer. "He's a really great player who sometimes gets carried away, but he's really important. He'll show that again at the European Championship."

Right-back Kimmich celebrated the winning goal with his head against Arsenal in the 63rd minute. After the game, he said: "As a rule, you're more likely to score when you go into the box. I was a bit lucky that nobody really felt responsible for me. And then there I was."

Bayern are now in the round of the best four teams in Europe. Their next opponent is Real Madrid. The final of the 69th Champions League season will take place on June 1 at Wembley Stadium in London.
