Enormous exhaustion
In an interview with "AP Entertainment", Nicola Coughlan (37) talked about her difficult time on the set of the third season of "Bridgerton". She suffered from extreme fatigue and exhaustion and burst into tears several times on set.
"I remember being so tired on set that I just started crying," Nicola Coughlan admitted in an interview for her British comedy series "Big Mood" about her time on the "Bridgerton" set.
Because while she was filming "Bridgerton" during the week, filming for the series "Big Mood" began at the weekend. This made her feel so overwhelmed that she started crying all the time.
"I needed more hours in the day"
"And then I said: 'There's actually nothing wrong with me. I'm just very tired. I had to learn my script for 'Big Mood' on the set of 'Bridgerton'," says the 37-year-old.
Her co-star Lydia West added that she quite admires Coughlan for being able to just sit in her chair on set and memorize her lines. But the actress replied that she had no other choice: "I didn't have any other time to do it. I needed more hours in the day."
Filming was "just crazy"
The whole thing was particularly difficult because the two series are very different. "'Big Mood' has quite natural dialog," explained Nicola Coughlan. In the dark comedy series "Big Mood", she plays Maggie, who has bipolar disorder and whose symptoms are getting worse.
In "Bridgerton", on the other hand, she is the young Penelope Featherington, who is looking for a man. "'Bridgerton', on the other hand, is very stylized," the 37-year-old continued. "We shot one in West London and the other in East London. It was just crazy. It was crazy."
Coughlan invests time in training sessions and therapy
But the actress also prepared herself accordingly for the tough time. "I prepared like an athlete. I went to the gym and did my training sessions. I then had therapy on Sunday. I took a proper rest day and had a massage and did all these things," Nicola Coughlan revealed.
"I thought to myself: I have to invest my money and my time in this, because it's very exhausting to shoot something like this. And I thought to myself, if I'm not in the best shape I can be, it's going to drain me."
