VfL Wolfsburg with Austrian coach Ralph Hasenhüttl has rid itself of its biggest worries in the relegation battle in the German Bundesliga. The 1:0 win against runners-up Bochum was the VW club's first home victory after eight unsuccessful attempts. Wolfsburg (13th) now have five points more than Mainz (16th). Cologne (17th), on the other hand, are threatened with the seventh relegation in the club's history. FC disappointed with a 2-0 home draw against bottom-placed Darmstadt (18th).

Leipzig maintained fourth place with an arduous 2:1 win at Heidenheim. Lower Austrian Nikola Dovedan gave the "Bulls" the jitters as he scored with his head 73 seconds after coming on as a substitute to make it 1-1 at the interval (69'). Lois Openda's 2:1 (85') kept Leipzig ahead of Dortmund in the final Champions League place. Xaver Schlager initiated the counter-attack for the winning goal with a fine through pass. Benjamin Sesko had given them the lead (42').

Wolfsburg picked up their second win in the fourth game under Hasenhüttl. Jonas Wind was celebrated for his golden goal (43'). In Cologne, however, the situation is becoming increasingly bleak. With four rounds to go, the "FC" are already five points behind Bochum in the first non-relegation place. The performance also gives little reason for hope. Against Darmstadt, the team led by captain Florian Kainz (until 67) - Dejan Ljubicic was absent due to illness - found no means. After a corner kick, the ball fell to the feet of Christoph Klarer and the former ÖFB U21 team defender scored for the second time this season (57'). Oscar Vilhelmsson made the final score 2:0 (90').

Hoffenheim (8th) can still believe in their chances of qualifying for the European Cup after a turbulent 4-3 win against Mönchengladbach (11th). TSV let a 3:1 lead slip before Anton Stach scored the decisive goal (91st). Gladbach's Robin Hack could not really celebrate his treble (39, 78, 89).
