And left lying there
Pedestrian on coke knocked down at the crosswalk
A 47-year-old woman was hit by a car on a crosswalk in Sattledt (Upper Austria) early on Thursday morning - the driver then made off, leaving the woman injured. The hit-and-run driver only turned himself in hours later: He was found to be impaired by cocaine and cannabis.
The driver of the car (also 47, from the Wels-Land district) was driving from Kremsmünster towards Wels at around 7 a.m. on Thursday. According to the police, he probably overlooked a 47-year-old woman from Kirchdorf on a crosswalk in Sattledt and collided with her.
Witnesses saw the woman lying injured on the side of the road, the driver stopped briefly but then stepped on the gas and drove off without helping her.
Witnesses recognized the license plate
The passers-by who saw the accident were able to remember large parts of the license plate number of the hit-and-run driver. This enabled the police to identify the car and its owner. However, the driver was initially nowhere to be found.
At around 3 p.m., around eight hours after the accident, the wanted man finally turned himself in. He was found to be impaired by drugs: The man had consumed cocaine and cannabis. He now faces several charges.
