FPÖ identifies "intolerable conditions" in municipal housing in Vösendorf in the early municipal election campaign. Blue top candidate now calls for a renovation offensive. 

Now, for once, a factual issue is finding its way into the Vösendorf election campaign. As is well known, the political cards will be reshuffled on May 5 in the municipality in the district of Mödling following investigations into the ÖVP mayor over a forged invoice. And so far, the election dispute has mainly been characterized by criminal charges and counter-charges.

"Catastrophic state"
The Freedom Party is now bringing the condition of council apartments into play. "Do you want to live here?", top candidate Kerstin Liebl asks the municipal leadership after a site inspection: "Many municipal apartments are in a catastrophic state. They are empty or moldy."

Pregnant women also affected
The lawyer is outraged: "There are heavily pregnant women and mothers who have to live in such rooms with their children! The health of our families is at stake." Clutter is also piling up around some of the municipal buildings, and painting and repair work is long overdue in the stairwells, says Liebl.

Renovation urgently needed
The FPÖ top candidate is calling for a rapid renovation offensive for the municipal buildings in Vösendorf: "Because the mayor resides in the castle in a princely manner, but for years he has done nothing for the municipal apartments," criticizes Liebl: "All families deserve a home worth living in."

Housing is a basic need. I am on the side of the tenants. The council apartments need to be renovated from the ground up.

ÖVP announces starter apartments
Local leader Hannes Koza (ÖVP) has now announced that he wants to have council apartments refurbished as starter apartments for young Vösendorf residents. This is not enough for the Freedom Party: "The apartments need to be renovated from the ground up."
