Drunk driver without a “license” fled after cab crash

Police were on the lookout for a fleeing driver in Hall in Tyrol on Saturday night: after the suspect (18) crashed a car into a cab, he and his two companions made off. Thanks to a witness, the trio was caught. The suspected driver was drunk - and did not have a driver's license.

According to the police, the 18-year-old local man was driving east on the B171 Tiroler Straße shortly after 0.30 a.m. when he hit a cab in front of him near Hall. The taxi driver suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. He had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

Trio fled in the direction of the train station
The suspected driver of the accident and his companions fled the scene. "He and his two passengers got out of the vehicle immediately after the accident and fled the scene in the direction of the train station," said the investigators.

In the course of the search measures that were initiated, first the passengers and then the driver were identified and stopped.
